Meet Romell

Meet Romell!

Romell H. Greenlee was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, where at the age of 14 years old, her career path was set in motion. The first endeavor was a participant in the “Miss Teenage Greensboro Pageant” where she actually placed in the final 10 contestants. From that point of being a pageant finalist, Romell continued to travel and sing with her family’s singing group, The Rising Gospel Singers.  Romell also worked with several local bands.  During her junior year at James B. Dudley High School, she gained even more attention in the school’s annual Talent Show.  The principal contacted a scout from Motown Records that was in the area to set up an audition for the record company. Romell’s mother the late Bishop Pearline Hedrick would not allow her to make the trip to Detroit, so the Motown audition never materialized.

Upon high school graduation , Romell married her high school sweetheart Edward Greenlee, Jr, who had enlisted in  the US Army and was about to be shipped to Viet Nam when he asked for Romell’s hand in marriage.  On September 19, 1968 the two were joined in marriage.  To this union three gifted and talented daughters were born, Daiveda, LaTonya and Ena.  In 1971 the family took on another adventure as they journeyed to Memphis Tennessee, where a pre-arranged audition for Stax Records was set up by the business manager of Isaac Hayes.  Mr. Perry Allen had set everything up for the audition, however, after several months of preparing, Stax Records was sold and proceedings were in place to close the doors forever.  Romell and family had made a complete transition to Memphis Tennessee, so they decided to continue to live in Memphis. Romell returned to working with several local bands, after her sister Linda moved to Memphis, the two of them became poplar in the studio arena.

Silver, Diamond and Gold was the last group Romell worked with professionally.  The female trio was signed under a contract with Dave Clark and TK Records.  They traveled throughout Memphis and the surrounding area and became very popular for their dynamic sound.  The group worked with producers such as Willie Mitchell and Ike Turner.   After ten years, the family returned to Greensboro North Carolina because of a sudden illness.

Once Romell returned to North Carolina, she began to sing and travel with her family group, The Rising Gospel Singers.  At this time her husband was an ordained minister.  In 1999, Elder Edward Greenlee, Jr. was led by God to start his own ministry.  End Time Harvest Apostolic Holiness Church was birthed in the Greensboro area.  Romell took her place as the First Lady of End Time Harvest.

In 2004 Romell became suddenly ill with colon cancer. After several surgeries, Romell was healed of the cancer and released from the hospital after more than thirty (30) days.  Romell returned to work with UNITEDHEALTHCARE where she had been employed 25 years.  In 2006, again Romell became suddenly ill only to find out the cancer had reoccurred.  This time was even worst than the first time, however, with strong faith and prayer again Romell’s life was spared and she was healed of cancer.  She endured over 30 surgeries at this time and was put on permanent disability.  After over 60 days, Romell was released from the hospital.  In 2010, Romell had her 38th surgical procedure, another success story.

Romell went through a traumatic experience, she was considered to be a sacrifice, an example of what God can and will do for those who put their total trust in him.  Elder Edward Greenlee is now Bishop of End Time Apostolic Holiness Church and affiliate of Apostolic Faith Churches of Deliverance, presiding prelate Apostle Carl D. Lykes of Statesville North Carolina.  The message that God has given Bishop and First Lady Greenlee is one of strong endurance and deliverance operating under the spirit of “Excellence.”  God has compelled both of them to “cry loud and spare not” and to tell of his goodness!
